The Draco
The Draco was usually carried by the cavalry units. The "Draconius" rider would carry the Draco of each cavalry unit. A Draco was created by shaping metal to form a hollow head that resembled a toothed dragon. A cloth tube tail was also attached to the neck of the head, so it would expand when the wind passed through it as the standard was being carried high in the air. If the Draco was carried at the correct speed, a subtle hissing noise would be created by the air-stream passing through the dragon's mouth. This military standard was not only used for battles, but it was also used in cavalry games. The Draco would sometimes be used as a target and point would be awarded to who hit its tail.
